Energy Saving Solutions for Sheffield Workwear Provider

Sheffield-based Arden Winch, supply an extensive range of customised Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and workwear for businesses. They recently supplied PEP some new, high-quality work clothing as part of the brand relaunch.

Our team have worked with them for many years securing competitive prices for their business energy. As part of their efforts to meet net zero targets, they asked for help in understanding their energy use to look for reduction opportunities. Following initial discussions, Energy manager Jason Martin kicked the project off by carrying out a thorough energy audit across their two buildings.

This uncovered several energy efficiency options starting with an upgrade to the existing lighting system. Another key finding was to ensure the boiler is working more efficiently by introducing intelligent boiler controls. This would help to minimise how often it fires up without affecting the buildings temperature. Other opportunities are being explored that will provide significant long-term savings, reduce emissions, and make them less reliant on traditional energy sources.

Steve Barker from Arden Winch Ltd & Co comments: “Jason has been a huge support in helping us understand our consumption. He provided us with an in-depth report explaining what equipment needs upgrading and installing, the estimated costs with a five-year payback period, and future forecast savings. The findings could potentially save us 13.1 tonne of carbon per year and reduce our energy consumption by 33%. Understanding government legislation can feel like a minefield when trying to develop net zero plans. Jason made the entire process hassle-free providing advice on next steps to ensure the business successfully moves towards a low carbon future. Without the help and experience of PEP and Jason we couldn’t have been able to take this first and very important step.”
