Professional Energy Purchasing Provides Net Zero Support to Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber Members

Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce has expanded its successful partnership with Professional Energy Purchasing’s (PEP) energy management team to give members tailored advice and support in becoming Net Zero.

The new service, which is available to all members of the Chamber, includes a free initial energy consultation. A dedicated energy manager at PEP can then carry out a detailed energy audit to help businesses understand the steps needed to become more efficient, highlighting potential energy and carbon savings, and any investment costs with payback periods.

This will explain how they are using energy and, in many cases, wasting it which is on average a staggering 20% of the energy used.

PEP’s team also helps businesses understand energy legislation and actively look for any grants and incentives to help with investment costs.

The new Net Zero service is an expansion of the partnership between Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber and PEP, which has been providing Chamber members with energy procurement services for several years.

Shane Young, Head of Commercial & Partnerships at Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce says

“Barnsley and Rotherham local authorities have set a pledge to become zero-carbon earlier than the 2050 UK target. To achieve this, local businesses will need to do their bit but knowing where to start can be confusing and overwhelming.

Our new Net Zero service is the perfect first step. Through the Chamber partnership with PEP, members can team up with experts to put real, actionable plans in place to help them reduce energy and carbon and work towards becoming Net Zero.”

Linda Spencer, MD at Professional Energy Purchasing, comments

“We are really excited to launch this new Net Zero service to Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber members which builds on the fantastic partnership we already have with the Chamber.

We’ve seen a big demand for support with energy and carbon reduction planning over the last year, partly driven by the increase in energy prices. Unfortunately, with the ongoing daily pressures businesses face, trying to reduce carbon emissions and plan for Net Zero can feel like a daunting task.

Bringing in our independent, specialist energy manager to do a detailed energy report takes this pressure away and gives a clear, quantifiable plan for them to work towards.”
