Shining a Light on Energy Savings in Our Workplace

As an energy management business, we believe in practising what we preach. So when we moved into our new premises, one of the very first steps we took was to carry out a full audit of our own energy use. It’s important to us that we operate as efficiently as possible - not just for cost savings, but to demonstrate the tangible benefits that smart energy decisions can deliver.
Although our office is a managed space, we were pleased to partner with our landlords, Smith Chartered Surveyors, to jointly fund the replacement of our old fluorescent lighting with modern LED alternatives. LEDs offer several advantages over fluorescent tubes: they’re far more energy efficient, they last significantly longer, and they provide improved, higher-quality light.
Working with a trusted local lighting company, we upgraded all general and emergency lighting across our building. In total, this included 39 new LED lights and the installation of two Passive Infrared Sensors (PIRs) in the toilets and stairwell for even greater efficiency.
We were also delighted to secure 50% grant funding through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund Low Carbon Project via Rotherham Borough Council, helping us to reduce upfront costs and accelerate our payback period.
