Professional Energy People (PEP) were appointed as the official energy consultants to conduct 40 energy efficiency audits for businesses across the York and North Yorkshire region. The programme supported a range of organisations including charities, manufacturers, leisure centres, and more.
The initiative was funded by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority (YNYCA) and the UK Government via its allocated £8,782,899 UK Shared Prosperity Fund. YNYCA earmarked part of this funding to support businesses in transitioning towards environmental sustainability.
Under the programme and tight deadlines, PEP successfully conducted the 40 comprehensive on-site energy audits, followed by detailed reports outlining opportunities for energy and carbon savings. These reports include practical recommendations, priority actions, and financial considerations for businesses to develop actionable energy improvement plans.
The contract, which ran until March 2026, builds on PEP’s extensive energy management expertise gained through other government-led projects across the UK.
Linda Spencer, Managing Director of Professional Energy People, said:
"We were thrilled to be selected for this project and to help YNYCA make a positive impact towards their climate targets.
Our team has extensive experience working with businesses and local authorities, and we are committed to helping organisations understand practical ways to reduce carbon, energy consumption, and costs using tried and tested methods."
Jack Colding, Business Relationship Manager – Environment and Sustainability, York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority commented:
“PEP’s expertise and experience meant the project was delivered on time, to a high standard and in a professional manner, despite the fact that we had to quite drastically reduce the timeframe for the project. We are incredibly grateful and thankful that they won the tender for this contract.
I cannot recommend PEP highly enough. Due to some delays our side in the contracting process, PEP had a much tighter timeframe to deliver the project than originally advertised. They dealt with this really well and had a clear delivery plan, making us confident from the start that they were still going to be able to deliver the project on time for us and were always helpful and personable in meetings. Other than the customer details, they’ve needed very little input from us, and have been a safe pair of hands who we’ve been able to leave to just get on with it.
Timely and informative updates have been provided on a regular basis, along with copies of the audits carried out. We can tell from our customers’ responses that they had a good experience when PEP were on site - the audits were helpful and informative, and the visits were conducted politely and professionally.
We will definitely try to work with them again if we have similar contracts available in the future.”
