West Special Fasteners manufacture stainless steel and other exotic metal fasteners for some of the most iconic projects around the world. Their products have even travelled 35,000 feet below sea level to the deepest oceanic trench on Earth as part of a purpose-built submarine!
Back here on terra firma, we’ve had the pleasure of working with the team for many years procuring their energy. Their extensive operation has historically been fuelled by high energy consumption, so our task has been to make sure they get the best prices and supply to run their business.
Not only do they create innovative products, but they also want to take an active lead on sustainability. This has involved investing in building insulation, increasing their recycling programme, and changing out-dated lighting with new LED lighting.
They approached us to help them in their next step of installing solar panels on the roof space of their 28,000 square-foot factory.
We brought in one of our energy partners to design and install a customised solar panel system for their building. The 299-panel solution took less than 5 days to install, produces over 62,000 kWh of electricity per annum, and will reduce their bills and carbon footprint by 22 tonnes of CO2 each year. That's equivalent to planting 29 acres of forest!
James Hawkins comments “Linda and the team have helped us manage our energy efficiency for many years through their first-rate procurement service. They always go the extra mile to help us with any day-to-day issues that arise which is invaluable to us. This recent solar panel installation is a good example of the wider energy support they provide to clients which has been excellent from start to finish.”
